yes, i updated my mixtape.
‘eat your hear up’ is electro-indie-pop? i don’t know, but the blow does make good music. catchy and summerlike without the stickiness. i really like it. somewhere along the way it seems i’ve caught some electronic-flu. see also ‘suckerpin’ by modeselektor. the sound (at least of this track) is best described as gameboy music club. the sond itself is reminiscent of the better c64-soundtracks - loopy, but barying enough not to bore.
‘highways of gold’ is of course great. though ‘videotape seascape’ might be the better song after all, the highway got me hooked even in its crude live-video-form. all hail the jaguar love.
dwindle disbanded several years ago i suppose, and ‘recently okay’ was released 97, so old news. while it also sounds just like that, slackery alternative rock with no need to hurry, it lacks this pretentious touch of that time (see: smashing pumpkins and why billy corgan is loathed by so many). you have to like the repetitive nature of the songs to really enjoy the album, but if you do - go get it, if you can find it.
‘fix your face’ is just my favourite dillinger song at this time, and probably a good start if you never heard of them. if you can overcome this song, you’re ready for ‘panasonic youth’ and my ‘why black bubblegum is the grandest of all pop songs’ debate club.
